ExxonMobil Introduces Advanced Industrial Gear Lubricants
Fully-Synthetic Mobil SHC Gear Lubricants Deliver Optimum Protection for Equipment Operating in Extreme Conditions

ExxonMobil Lubricants and Petroleum Specialties, a division of Exxon Mobil Corporation, announced the introduction of its new lineup of high-performance, fully-synthetic industrial gear oils, known as Mobil SHC Gear series. The new Mobil SHC Gear series has been formulated to help oil and gas companies operating in extreme environments to reduce unscheduled downtime and maximise productivity.
The latest addition to the Mobil SHC brand of high-performance synthetic lubricants, Mobil SHC Gear oils are expertly formulated to deliver a number of performance advantages over conventional gear oil chemistries. For example, the range’s high oxidation resistance enables extended oil life up to six times compared to standard mineral gear and bearing lubricants, especially when operating at elevated operating temperatures. In addition, Mobil SHC Gear oils also demonstrate excellent water-handling properties, enhanced resistance to micropitting fatigue, improved seal compatibility and outstanding shear stability.

The new Mobil SHC lubricants offer valuable energy efficiency benefits across a wide range of industrial gearbox applications. In statistically validated laboratory tests and field trials, Mobil SHC Gear fluids exhibited energy savings of up to 3.6 percent compared with conventional oils*. Mobil SHC Gear lubricants are approved by Siemens for use in Flender gearboxes and meet or exceed nearly every other major industry and OEM specification for industrial gearbox applications.

In addition to Mobil SHC Gear oils, ExxonMobil has recently introduced Mobil SHC Pegasus and Mobil DTE 10 Excel to improve the performance and energy efficiency of natural gas engines and hydraulic application operating in the oil & gas sector. The natural gas engine oil, Mobil SHC Pegasus, uses breakthrough technologies to optimise equipment productivity and protection. Extensive independent university laboratory and field tests have demonstrated that the product helps reduce fuel consumption by up to 1.5 percent** and has the potential to increase oil drain intervals to more than 16,000 hours – four to eight times that of standard natural gas engine oils.
The hydraulic oil, Mobil DTE 10 Excel, exceeds major industry specifications and is known for its ultra keep-clean performance, long-life and durability, and potential energy efficiency benefits. In extensive field and laboratory testing, Mobil DTE 10 Excel demonstrated up to 6 percent gain in energy efficiency compared to conventional hydraulic oil*** and three-fold increase in oil drain intervals.
*Energy efficiency relates solely to the fluid performance when compared with conventional reference oils of the same viscosity grade in gear applications. The technology used allows up to 3.6% efficiency compared with the reference when tested in a worm gearbox under controlled conditions. Efficiency improvements will vary based on operating conditions and application.
** The fuel efficiency of Mobil SHC Pegasus relates solely to the fluid performance when compared with ExxonMobil’s standard SAE 40 natural gas engine oils. The technology used allows up to a 1.5% increase in fuel efficiency compared with Mobil Pegasus 1005 and 805 Series when tested in standard natural gas engine applications under controlled conditions. Efficiency improvements will vary based on operating conditions. The energy efficiency claim for this product is based on test results on the use of the fluid conducted in accordance with all applicable industry standards and protocols.
